It’s hard to believe that 2 years have passed since the lockdown in 2020 began. It seems like yesterday we were stocking up on toilet paper and paper towels. Gas was below $2 and it seemed like we would never need to drive again.
Some were lucky to work remotely like myself, while others lost jobs and struggled to make ends meet. I think Covid made people think about finances on a whole new level.
When 78% of people are living paycheck to paycheck and they start losing jobs, it becomes scary fast. That is why stimulus checks were sent out so quickly. People were drowning in debt with no savings. It was a wakeup call to take action.
That is when I got really interested in personal finance. I wanted to figure out the key concepts on how to win with money. Without over complicating it.
It turned out that it is not a secret and is not that hard to do. The hardest part is executing the plan you create. Personal finance is personal, so no plan is the same. That’s why it is so important to have a plan that is custom made for you. I would say the general key concepts are:
-Do a monthly budget
-Track expenses
-Don’t go over budget!!
-Sinking funds
-Pay off debt
-Invest
-Don’t borrow money for stupid things
