Let’s face it, we all have done stupid things with money! For some the mistakes cost more than others. From financing impulsive buys, student loans that have been around for decades, addictions, getting scammed….the list goes on. Each person has a unique story but the desire not to repeat the mistake is the same.
A few years ago, I got scammed out of $1,500 in bitcoin on Instagram. It was 3 separate $500 transactions that were sent via bitcoin. It seemed like a very advanced bitcoin investing strategy promising great returns. They asked for another $500 the 4th time before I realized that this was a scam. Fast forward to today and that bitcoin I sent is worth over $16,000 at the current price.
While there is no going back there is always going forward. The key to going forward is learning from the “mistake”. It is not a mistake if you learn from it. Identify what you want to change. Be clear and specific. Doing it twice is a mistake! (From my bitcoin incident, I decided that I will never send anyone money on the internet that I do not know and/or if it sounds too good to be true, it is). As the saying goes, live and learn!
